At least 44 Palestinians were killed Sunday while waiting for food in Gaza, as Israeli forces reportedly opened fire at distribution sites, according to local civil defense authorities.
The shootings occurred in al-Sudaniya in northern Gaza and at a food center in al-Shakoush, near Rafah. Witnesses described chaos as gunfire erupted near crowds of civilians queuing for aid. Several others were wounded in the incidents.
The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, the organization managing food distribution in the affected areas, did not respond to requests for comment.
Humanitarian conditions in Gaza continue to deteriorate, with approximately 2 million residents largely dependent on aid deliveries. United Nations officials have warned of extreme shortages, describing the situation as catastrophic and calling for urgent international action to restore safe and sustainable food access.
