FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – Cyprus’ Meteorological Department issued a yellow heat warning on Monday as temperatures in the interior are expected to reach 40 degrees Celsius.

The alert will remain in effect from noon to 5 p.m. local time.

Officials say the country is entering a prolonged period of extreme heat, with high temperatures expected to persist throughout the week.

The Forest Department has also raised concerns about wildfire risks, maintaining a red alert as conditions remain favorable for outbreaks and rapid spread.

Authorities urge residents to take precautions against heat-related health risks and to avoid outdoor activity during peak hours.
