Alaska Airlines grounded all flights nationwide on Sunday evening following a system-wide IT failure that disrupted critical operations across its network. The issue also impacted Horizon Air, Alaska’s regional subsidiary.
The airline requested a temporary ground stop as technicians worked to resolve the outage. Neither Alaska Airlines, Horizon Air, nor the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) responded to requests for comment.
According to company data, Alaska Airlines operates a fleet of 238 Boeing 737s and 87 Embraer 175 aircraft. The outage affected scheduling, communications, and passenger services, with travelers reporting widespread delays and limited access to flight information.
