FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE — The United States has proposed a comprehensive plan for Lebanon to disarm Hezbollah by the end of the year, according to a government agenda reviewed by Reuters.
The initiative also calls for an end to Israeli military operations in Lebanon and the withdrawal of Israeli forces from five positions in the country’s south.
Lebanon’s cabinet is expected to discuss the proposal during a scheduled meeting on Thursday.
Hezbollah, a powerful Shiite militant group and political party, has consistently rejected demands to relinquish its weapons.
