FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – Police officers from Cyprus’s elite “Z” unit hit the streets of central Nicosia Thursday morning in a surprise crackdown on electric scooters and similar devices.
The operation targeted violations of the law governing personal mobility gadgets—like e-scooters and e-bikes—as part of a broader push to reduce serious and fatal road accidents.
By the end of the sweep, 18 riders had been cited and their devices confiscated for further inspection.
Authorities say more campaigns like this are on the way, urging riders to follow the rules or risk losing their wheels.
