FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – Turkish Cypriot weather forecasters have issued a warning for elevated air pollution levels across the region due to a dust cloud sweeping in from the Middle East.
The transport of fine dust particles is expected to begin on Sunday afternoon on August 10 and continue through the evening of August 13.
Authorities advised vulnerable groups, including children, the elderly, and individuals with respiratory conditions, to take precautions such as limiting outdoor activity and using protective masks.
The dust, composed largely of PM10 and finer PM2.5 particles, can aggravate asthma, bronchial conditions, and cardiovascular issues.
Health officials recommend staying indoors during peak hours and using air purifiers where possible.
