BRUSSELS  – NATO plans to set up a new sentry post along its eastern flank in Europe, Secretary-General Mark Rutte said Friday, according to Reuters.

The post will be supported by allied forces from Denmark, France, the United Kingdom, Germany, and other member states, Rutte said.

A senior NATO commander confirmed that the sentry post will include both ground and air units. Such posts typically consist of troops and defense systems tasked with monitoring and securing strategic areas.

NATO’s eastern flank includes member countries bordering Russia, such as Poland and the Baltic states.
