PARALIMNI — A 23-year-old man is in critical condition after being struck by a reversing van late Thursday night in the grounds of a hotel in Paralimni, police said.
The incident occurred under circumstances still under investigation, when a 41-year-old driver was backing up the vehicle and hit the pedestrian, according to Famagusta Traffic Police.
The injured man was initially taken to a private clinic in Paralimni, then transferred to Famagusta General Hospital, where he was intubated.
Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later moved to Nicosia General Hospital, where he remains hospitalized.
Doctors said the man suffered a liver contusion and multiple head injuries. His condition is described as critical.
Authorities are reviewing surveillance footage from the area as part of the ongoing investigation.
