WARSAW, Poland — Polish and allied aircraft were deployed overnight in response to a Russian attack on Ukraine, the Polish military said Sunday.
Airspace over the eastern cities of Lublin and Rzeszów was temporarily closed due to what authorities described as “unplanned military activity” aimed at safeguarding national security, according to flight tracking data from Flightradar.
The Polish military said the deployment was a preventive measure to secure airspace near the border with Ukraine, which was under threat.
No violations of Polish airspace were reported during the overnight operation.
