LIMASSOL, Cyprus — A 34-year-old Syrian man, a permanent resident of Cyprus, died Sunday afternoon following a traffic collision in Limassol, authorities said.
Mohammed al-Ahmad was critically injured when his motorcycle collided with a car driven by a 20-year-old woman in the Linopetra neighborhood, according to Limassol traffic police chief Marios Charalambous. The driver attempted a right turn heading north, cutting across the path of the motorcycle, Charalambous said.
Al-Ahmad was transported to a private hospital, where he later died despite doctors’ efforts to save him.
Police said the driver underwent a breathalyzer test, which showed zero alcohol levels.
