Seventeen flights were cancelled at Munich Airport on Thursday evening following reports of drone activity in the vicinity, German police have confirmed.
Multiple witnesses reported seeing a drone near the airport, with further sightings later over the airfield itself. It remains unclear whether the incident involved one or several drones.
Runways were closed late on Thursday as a precaution, affecting nearly 3,000 passengers.
Federal and state police conducted a search of the area, including a sweep for suspicious individuals. No drones were found, and no arrests were made. A police helicopter was also deployed during the operation.
