Former Metropolitan of Kition Chrysostomos has passed away at the age of 87.

Born in 1938 in Palaiometocho, he was ordained a deacon at just 17 years old. In October 1973, he was elected Bishop of Kition and consecrated by Archbishop Makarios.

He resigned from the metropolitan throne of Larnaca in 2019, citing declining strength. In May 2023, he was found guilty by the Larnaca District Court of indecent assault against a woman and received a 12-month suspended prison sentence. The Holy Synod placed him on ecclesiastical leave in June 2023.

Funeral details have not yet been announced.
