Storm Barbara to Hit Cyprus Tonight, Yellow Warning Issued

Cyprus is bracing for severe weather as Storm Barbara approaches the island, with the Meteorological Service issuing a yellow warning for strong thunderstorms.

The alert will be in effect from midnight Tuesday until 9 a.m. Wednesday.

According to forecasters, isolated but intense storms are expected to initially affect the western and southern coasts, later spreading to eastern areas. Hail is possible, and winds may strengthen and shift direction during storm activity.

Rainfall intensity could range between 35 and 55 millimeters per hour, prompting caution for potential flooding and hazardous driving conditions.
