PARIS — Former French Prime Minister Édouard Philippe has voiced support for an early presidential election, citing the deepening political crisis in the country.
In an interview with radio station RTL, Philippe — once a close ally of President Emmanuel Macron — said a fresh vote was necessary to restore stability.
His comments follow the resignation of Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu on Monday, after his government faced rejection from both allies and opposition parties.
The move has intensified calls for a reset in France’s leadership.
