Senior officials from Qatar and Turkey are set to join Gaza cease-fire negotiations in Egypt on Wednesday, as mediators seek to end the ongoing conflict.
Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani will attend the talks in Sharm El Sheikh, the Foreign Ministry said Tuesday, calling it a “critical stage” in the process.
Turkey’s intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalin is also expected to participate, focusing on a cease-fire, prisoner exchange and humanitarian aid, according to Anadolu Agency.
The indirect talks between Israel and Hamas began Monday, centered on a U.S.-backed proposal that includes a phased cease-fire, Israeli withdrawal and international oversight of Gaza’s reconstruction.
