Egypt now has 26 Digital Egypt Innovation Centers operating across the country, with a new “Creativa” center in Luxor set to open soon, according to the Communications Ministry’s annual report released Wednesday.

The ministry said Egypt topped the Middle East and North Africa in attracting startup investment in May 2025, recording $125 million in deals for eight technology startups.

The number of trainees in technology fields has multiplied 200‑fold over seven years, rising from 4,000 in the 2018–2019 fiscal year to 500,000 in 2024–2025, with a target of 800,000 trainees in 2025–2026. The training budget has increased more than sixtyfold to 2 billion Egyptian pounds.

The report said 102 women have graduated from the “Digitals Egypt” program across four cohorts as part of an initiative to equip Egyptian women with digital skills.

It also noted the graduation of the first class from Egypt University of Informatics in computer science, business technology and digital arts, with computer science graduates receiving dual degrees with the University of Minnesota Twin Cities.

Egypt’s WE Schools for applied technology have expanded from a single school in 2021 to 27 schools nationwide.

On infrastructure, the ministry highlighted the successful landing of the high‑capacity Coral Bridge submarine cable, the first direct cable linking Egypt and Jordan in more than 25 years.

The 15‑kilometer system is expected to boost international data speeds and reduce costs, providing seamless connectivity across Asia, Africa and Europe. It also reported completion of the main infrastructure for the 2Africa submarine cable, one of the world’s largest.

Egypt Post has undergone a major overhaul, increasing its outlets to more than 4,700, including mobile units, kiosks and drive‑through branches.

More than 4,000 offices have been upgraded with new technology, and new digital services have been launched, including the secure “Baridi” email service, the AI‑powered “Wasalha Express” shipping service and “Felousy,” billed as Egypt’s first integrated digital investment platform.
