The Cyprus Research Centre of the Ministry of Education, Sport and Youth will host an event on Feb. 25 to present the Greek edition of historian Rolandos Katsiaounis’ book Labour, Society and Politics in Cyprus during the Second Half of the Nineteenth Century.
The publication, part of the series Sources and Studies of Cypriot History (XCVII), is considered a key reference work on Cyprus’ social and economic history.
Based on Katsiaounis’ doctoral research, the study examines the island’s transition from late Ottoman decline to British colonial rule, highlighting economic change and social conflict. It places particular emphasis on everyday people — farmers, laborers and small traders — drawing on extensive archival and primary sources.
The event, organized in cooperation with the Prometheus Research Institute, will take place at 7 p.m. at the Journalists’ House in Nicosia.
