Police have arrested a 32‑year‑old man in connection with an arson attack that destroyed a parked car in Limassol early Wednesday, authorities said.
According to investigators, the fire broke out at around 2:40 a.m. in a vehicle belonging to a 28‑year‑old woman. The car was parked in the lot of an apartment building, where the blaze caused additional damage to the building’s walls.
Fire Service crews extinguished the flames, and a joint examination with police determined the fire had been set deliberately.
Police said evidence gathered at the scene led to the identification of the 32‑year‑old suspect. A warrant was issued and he was arrested shortly after 10:30 a.m. He was later brought before the Limassol District Court, which ordered him held for six days as the investigation continues.
