Cyprus Police Arrest Five in Overnight Crime‑Prevention Sweep

Police made five arrests during overnight crime‑prevention operations carried out across Cyprus, authorities said Thursday.

The coordinated patrols targeted key urban areas with the aim of deterring serious offences and maintaining public order. Police said the arrests involved a range of crimes, including burglary, theft and possession of burglary tools.

Scope of the operation

  • 318 vehicles were stopped for inspection.
  • 432 people were checked.
  • 13 premises were inspected, resulting in three citations.
  • Traffic officers issued 132 road‑traffic citations, including four for driving under the influence of alcohol.
  • 77 breathalyser tests were conducted.
  • Four vehicles were seized.

Ongoing policing effort

Police said the intensified patrols form part of a continuing strategy to prevent and suppress crime through increased visibility and targeted checks. Daily operations will continue with reinforced police presence and rapid response capability.
