The Public Works Department announced scheduled roadworks in the Larnaca district that will affect traffic later this week and through April.
Maintenance on Larnaca–Nicosia highway
The Larnaca District Engineer’s Office said safety‑barrier maintenance will take place Friday, Feb. 27, between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. inside the Rizoelia roundabout on the Larnaca–Nicosia highway. The inner lane of the roundabout will be closed during the work, and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane.
Pedestrian crossing works on Makariou Avenue
As part of Larnaca’s Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan, crews will build a signal‑controlled pedestrian crossing on Makariou Avenue between Feb. 26 and April 24. The project covers a 40‑meter stretch from the Larnaca Port roundabout to Theodorou Kolokotroni Street.
Traffic changes include:
- Closure of the left lane toward Larnaca, with vehicles routed to the right lane.
- Temporary lifting of the one‑way restriction on part of Kolokotroni Street, which will become a dead end.
- One‑way traffic on Georgiou Drosini Street from Kolokotroni toward Meli Nikolaidi Street.
The department apologized for the disruption and urged drivers to follow temporary signage and police instructions.
