A 24‑year‑old man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for importing and possessing 16 kilograms of cannabis with intent to supply, the Paphos Permanent Criminal Court has confirmed.
The case dates to June 10, 2025, when customs officers at Paphos Airport, working with the Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN), stopped the man after he arrived on a flight from another European country.
Authorities found 16.7 kilograms of cannabis in his luggage. Laboratory tests later confirmed that 16.03 kilograms of the substance were pure cannabis.
After reviewing the evidence presented by police and prosecutors, the court found the defendant guilty of illegal importation and possession of cannabis with intent to supply. It imposed concurrent prison terms totaling 10 years.
The man was arrested at the airport and the drugs were seized on the spot. YKAN’s Paphos unit led the investigation.
