The government is investing in the leadership, personnel and capabilities of the Fire Service, President Nikos Christodoulides said at the inauguration of the Fire Service’s Unified Operations Coordination Center in Lakatamia.
Christodoulides said the government’s support is demonstrated “not only in words but in actions,” citing upgraded equipment, improved infrastructure and expanded use of technology.
He said public safety is non‑negotiable, adding that the center’s 24‑hour operation, real‑time information management and technological tools will lead to faster decisions, better coordination and more effective protection of human life.
Fire Chief Nikos Longinos said the new coordination center is not simply an additional facility but aims to become the core of a modern, flexible and effective crisis‑management mechanism.
