Tens of thousands of homes in Western Australia were left without electricity after powerful weekend storms damaged property and power lines across the state.

Western Power said about 70,000 customers, including many in Perth, remained without power Monday morning after storms swept through southern WA on Saturday and Sunday.

Wind gusts above 100 kilometers per hour were recorded across the south and southwest, causing widespread flooding and structural damage. The State Emergency Service said it had received roughly 700 calls for help, mostly for roof and building damage and fallen trees. No injuries were reported.

In the Perth suburb of Cottesloe, an apartment building lost its roof, prompting authorities to warn nearby residents to stay indoors. Police said an 11‑year‑old boy reported missing Saturday evening in the western suburbs was found safe Sunday morning.

Western Power said most outages were expected to be resolved by Monday night.
