The EU service Copernicus states that 2024 will be the warmest year ever recorded.
The report presented on Monday by the Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S) shows that the extraordinarily high temperatures will last at least into the first months of 2025.
It is also the first time that the global average temperature is above the 1.5 degree target, writes NTB.
Research has shown that warming of more than 1.5 degrees will lead to significant, irreversible climate change, such as severe heat waves, more intense storms, sea level rise and major ecosystem damage.
