GPO survey for Parapolitika shows governing party above 30% in projected vote share, as pollsters gauge public reaction to party leaders’ economic pledges at Thessaloniki fair
New Democracy has retained a commanding lead in the latest opinion poll for Greek newspaper Parapolitika, with the governing party’s advantage over its nearest rival, ELAS, widening to 12.3 percentage points on voting intention, according to the survey by pollster GPO.
The poll, conducted among a nationwide sample of 1,000 people between 14 and 16 September, gauged public reaction to the parties’ recent appearances at the Thessaloniki International Fair and their competing economic programmes.
On projected vote share, New Democracy stood at 30.3%, well clear of ELAS on 15.8% and Pasok in third on 13.1%. Elliniki Lysi followed on 8.9% and the Communist Party (KKE) on 8.7%, with Plefsi Eleftherias on 4.7%, Foni Logikis on 4% and Elpida gia ti Dimokratia on 3.8%. Mera25 registered 2.1%, Syriza-Progressive Alliance 1.5%, and Niki and Nea Aristera 1.2% each, with 4.7% opting for “other.”
On voting intention — a narrower measure of firm commitment rather than general preference — New Democracy’s lead over ELAS was more pronounced, at 25.8% to 13.5%. Pasok followed on 11.2%, Elliniki Lysi on 7.6% and KKE on 7.4%. Plefsi Eleftherias stood at 4%, Foni Logikis at 3.4% and Elpida gia ti Dimokratia at 3.2%, with Mera25 on 1.8%, Syriza on 1.3%, and Niki and Nea Aristera on 1% apiece. Some 4% named another party, while 13.7% of respondents remained undecided.
