President accuses outlets of persistent dishonest coverage, warns other “fake news” organisations may face similar bans
President Donald Trump has announced that CNN, MS NOW and Politico have been barred from the White House, accusing the outlets of persistently publishing dishonest coverage.
Writing on his social media platform, Trump said the three organisations had been “immediately banned” from the White House, citing what he described as their continued production of fake news as the reason for the decision.
Trump claimed MS NOW — the outlet formerly known as MSNBC before its rebrand — had changed its name owing to declining viewership and credibility, and alleged that Politico had improperly received $8m in government subscription payments during the administration of former President Joe Biden.
He said media organisations should not publish “fiction and lies” about him, his administration or the country, and warned that “other fake news outlets” could face similar bans in future.
