The government is working on new targeted measures to address the cost of living, Finance Minister Makis Keravnos said, adding that a new package would go before the next Cabinet meeting.
The finance minister also said the government would continue supporting lower-income and vulnerable groups.
On the issue of hourly-paid workers, three unions left a meeting with the President of the Republic with an improved proposal. The proposal will go before workers and the relevant union bodies for a decision in the coming days.
“We have been given, once again, an improved proposal, which we are obliged to put before the workers in the coming days for discussion, so that the assembly can consider the next steps we will take as a union movement,” said Stavros Andreou, secretary-general of PASYDY-PEO.
“We have been given a new, improved proposal compared to what was on the table previously. It will go before workers’ representatives (…) for a decision,” said Giorgos Constantinou, secretary-general of OEKDY-SEK.
“Certainly, now that we have a more improved proposal, we believe we can bring it to the relevant bodies,” said Andreas Antoniou, secretary-general of DEE-KDOKO-DEOK.
The final decisions now rest with the workers and the unions’ relevant bodies.
