Four arrested in overnight police operations across Cyprus

Police made four arrests overnight during organised patrols in key urban areas across the island, aimed at preventing serious crime, maintaining public order and boosting public confidence in safety.

The four were arrested on suspicion of various offences, including burglary, theft, trespass and malicious damage.

During the night, officers stopped 605 vehicles and checked 742 drivers and passengers. They also carried out 33 inspections of premises, none of which led to complaints.

In traffic checks, police reported 328 offences, 132 of them for speeding. Of 136 breath tests carried out, six were positive. Four preliminary drug tests were conducted, with one positive result. Twenty vehicles were impounded during police inspections.

Police said operations to prevent and suppress crime will continue daily, with a stronger police presence, targeted checks and immediate action to protect citizens and maintain public order.
