Bavaria: Shooting kills 2

Two people were killed in a shooting in Berngau, in the German state of Bavaria, German newspaper Bild reported on Thursday.

Citing police, local media reported that the shooting took place while two government staff were carrying out a routine weapons check at a residential building. Police have surrounded the house, where the suspected gunman is believed to be hiding.

Previous reports said two people were severely injured in the shooting. According to the latest report from BILD, one of the government employees was shot dead, while his female colleague, initially reported injured, was also found dead.

Police have been trying to establish contact with the suspected gunman, who is allegedly a sport shooter. Local residents have been asked to stay indoors.

Under the German Weapons Act, anyone who owns a legal firearm must undergo regular verifications to ensure the weapon is stored securely and cannot be accessed by unauthorized individuals. ■
