Cyprus promotes halloumi at Indian food and drink trade fair

Cyprus recently promoted its food and drink products, led by halloumi, at a major trade fair in India.

The ministry, through the Cyprus Trade Centre in New Delhi, took part with an information stand at ANUGA Select India 2026, one of the country’s leading business-to-business food and beverage exhibitions. The event was held at the Bombay Exhibition Centre in Mumbai from September 29 to October 1.

The ministry said the Cypriot presence offered an opportunity to showcase quality Cypriot food and drink and to open new channels of communication and cooperation with Indian businesses. Professionals, importers, distributors, retailers and representatives of the hospitality and catering sectors were able to see the products at first hand.

Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) halloumi was at the centre of the display, presented through tastings and on-the-spot cooking demonstrations. The ministry said visitors responded particularly positively to the live kitchen at the Cyprus stand, where the cheese was served in modern, accessible dishes.

Cyprus’s presence was also boosted through the European Union stand, where halloumi featured in tasting and cooking events. A halloumi masterclass was held in cooperation with the Cyprus Trade Centre and the EU stand, with well-known chef Altamsh Patel taking part.

The ministry said participation in the fair formed part of continuing efforts to promote the outward-looking approach of Cypriot businesses and widen their export prospects. Contacts with Indian entrepreneurs and industry professionals had created new opportunities for networking and business partnerships, it added, helping to strengthen trade relations between Cyprus and India.
