The Fire Department in Cyprus has been called to respond to 29 fires since December 23rd, the Service’s press spokesman Andreas Kettis told CyBC radio.
Most fires, Kettis pointed out, occurred in urban areas, as people tried to keep their homes warm.
Referring to gas heaters, Kettis called on citizens to be particularly careful and to close the valve in the event of a leak.
