German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier has announced that he is dissolving the Bundestag.
Prime Minister Olaf Scholz lost a vote of no confidence in the Bundestag on December 16 and asked the president to call new elections.
The coalition with the Social Democrats, the Greens and the Free Democrats collapsed after almost three years in power.
There will be new elections in Germany on February 23rd.
