Bayern Munich concluded the Bundesliga’s matchday 23 with an impressive 4-0 win against Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday. Frankfurt started strong, pressing high and almost capitalizing on a misdirected pass from Hiroki Ito. However, Hugo Ekitike’s shot went wide in the sixth minute. Bayern’s Michael Olise soon showed their attacking intent, but his close-range effort missed the target.
The Eagles gradually lost control, allowing Bayern to dominate possession. Rasmus Kristensen made a crucial goal-line clearance to deny Jamal Musiala in the 15th minute. As the first half progressed, Bayern’s grip on the game tightened, with Olise and Thomas Muller testing Frankfurt goalkeeper Kevin Trapp. Musiala came close to scoring just before half-time after a cross from Muller.
In first-half injury time, Bayern took the lead. Musiala set up Leroy Sane, whose precise cross was met by Olise from close range. Bayern continued their dominance after the break, with Nmamdi Collins tipping Sane’s shot wide in the 53rd minute. Frankfurt struggled to pose a threat, and their situation worsened when Trapp misjudged a corner, allowing Ito to score his first goal for Bayern in the 60th minute.
Bayern maintained control for the rest of the match. Despite several substitutions, Frankfurt couldn’t find a way back. In stoppage time, Serge Gnabry sealed the win with a goal, making it 4-0. This victory reinforces Bayern’s title ambitions, leaving Frankfurt 12 points behind second-placed Bayer Leverkusen.
“Beating the third-placed team in the Bundesliga at home was exactly what we aimed to achieve,” said Bayern sporting director Max Eberl.
In other matches, Heidenheim squandered a two-goal lead against RB Leipzig, resulting in a 2-2 draw at home, while Stuttgart settled for a 1-1 draw with Hoffenheim.
