The Trump administration announced on Sunday that 2,000 employees at the USAID aid agency in the United States will lose their jobs, and almost all other employees worldwide will be laid off.

This layoff notice follows a federal judge’s decision to allow the administration to proceed with removing thousands of employees from positions in the United States and around the world.

Judge Carl Nichols denied motions by the employees to uphold the temporary injunction against the government’s plan.

In early February, President Donald Trump announced his plans to change USAID, the Agency for International Development, with help from Elon Musk. Musk has described USAID as a “criminal organization” and stated that it was time to shut it down.
