Electricity demand in Cyprus saw a significant drop early Saturday afternoon, attributed to higher temperatures compared to previous days.
Demand reached 598 Megawatts (MW) at 3:00 PM, down from 668 MW between 8:15 AM and 8:30 AM.
On Friday, February 28, demand was recorded at 757 MW at the same time.
According to the Cyprus Transmission System Operator (TSO), conventional power production at 3:00 PM on Saturday was 360 MW, a decrease from 521 MW at the same time on Friday and 507 MW at 6:30 AM on Saturday.
Dispersed production, which includes photovoltaics and biomass, was stable at 221 MW at 3:00 PM, similar to Friday’s levels.
However, it peaked at 334 MW at 8:45 AM on Saturday.
Production from wind farms was minimal, recorded at just 17 MW.
