FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – Israeli attacks in Gaza are causing devastating civilian casualties and worsening the humanitarian crisis, UN humanitarians report.

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) stated that daily strikes have killed and injured many Palestinians, with dozens, including eight children, killed in Gaza City on Wednesday.

Many remain missing under the rubble.

The Ministry of Health in Gaza reported over 1,500 fatalities, predominantly women and children, since hostilities intensified less than a month ago.

OCHA emphasized that the six-week blockade on cargo entry is severely hampering access to life-saving aid, with supplies nearing exhaustion and looting incidents increasing in Rafah, Deir al Balah, and Al Zawaida.

More than 60,000 children are suffering from malnutrition as community kitchens run out of fuel and supplies. The World Health Organization (WHO) facilitated medical evacuations for 18 patients and 30 companions on Wednesday but noted that 12,500 patients still require evacuation.

Acute water shortages in shelters hosting displaced people are exacerbating public health risks, with lice infestations affecting over one-third of households in March. OCHA reiterated the urgent need to reopen crossings to allow critical supplies to enter Gaza.
