FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – Incumbent Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese was declared the winner of the fourth and final debate against opposition leader Peter Dutton ahead of Saturday’s general election.

Among undecided voters, 50% favored Albanese, while 25% chose Dutton, with the remaining 25% undecided.

Albanese was seen as stronger on cost of living, housing, and tax cuts, while Dutton performed better on defense and Indigenous affairs.

This marks Albanese’s second debate victory during the campaign, with Dutton winning the third debate and no winner declared in the second.

The debate, focused on domestic issues, saw heated exchanges on economic policies.

Dutton criticized Albanese for inflation under his government, while Albanese highlighted consecutive budget surpluses delivered by Labor.

Earlier Sunday, Albanese announced a $204.5 million AUD plan to expand telehealth services, aiming to reduce emergency department visits.

Healthcare remains a key focus of Labor’s campaign, with both parties pledging to boost Medicare funding.

Early voting has already seen 2.9 million Australians cast their ballots, representing over 16% of registered voters. The official election date is May 3.
