Albania will launch its first nonstop flights to Canada next year, officials said Thursday, marking the country’s first transatlantic air link.
Tirana International Airport and Air Transat announced that weekly service between Tirana and Toronto will begin June 18, 2026, with an Airbus A330‑200.
The first departure from Tirana is scheduled for June 19. The seasonal route will run through Oct. 9.
Airport officials said the service responds to rising demand for direct travel between Albania, neighboring Balkan countries and Canada.
They said the flights will shorten travel times and offer a more practical option for passengers.
“This is our first transoceanic service and our first direct connection to North America,” said Piervittorio Farabbi, the airport’s chief operating officer.
Officials said the route is expected to support tourism, business travel and cultural exchange.
They credited the Albanian government and state agencies for finalizing the air‑service agreement with Canada on an accelerated timeline.
