Automotive Sector Leads Turkey’s Exports With $41.5 Billion

Turkey’s automotive industry was the country’s top‑exporting sector last year, reaching $41.5 billion in overseas sales, according to data from the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM).

Chemicals ranked second with $31.9 billion in exports, followed by the electrical and electronics sector at $17.7 billion.

The fastest‑growing sector was defense and aerospace, which posted a 48.8% increase in exports.

Overall, industrial goods — which account for 82% of Turkey’s total exports — rose 6% to $194.8 billion. Agricultural exports, representing 15.3% of total shipments, increased 0.6% to $36.4 billion. Mining exports, making up 2.6% of the total, climbed 3.4% to $6.2 billion.

Germany remained Turkey’s largest export market at $19.8 billion, followed by the United Kingdom at $14.2 billion and the United States at $13.2 billion.

Istanbul led all provinces with $95.2 billion in exports, while Kocaeli recorded $22.9 billion and Bursa $17.9 billion.
