Only 30 percent of Britons believe the decision to withdraw the UK from the EU was the right one, according to a YouGov poll. This is the lowest level ever recorded.

52 percent voted to leave the EU in the referendum in June 2016.

Five weeks after the vote, 46 percent said the decision was the right one.

The latest YouGov poll comes five years after the exit from the union was a fact.

Among those polled who say they voted for Brexit, 18 percent now say it was the wrong decision. 66 percent of them still support the decision.

Only 7 percent of those who voted to remain in the EU say that Brexit was the right choice, and 88 percent are opposed.

A full 75 percent of those between 18 and 24 years old, who in 2016 were too young to vote, believe the outcome was wrong, while 10 percent of them believe it was the right choice.

Of the 2,225 people polled, 55 percent expressed support for rejoining the EU. Prime Minister Keir Starmer voted to remain in the EU when he led Labour in opposition.

The party won the election in July and is trying to forge closer ties with the EU again, but it has ruled out rejoining the EU’s single market, customs union or opening up free movement.
