President Nikos Christodoulides described Cyprus’ invitation to attend the upcoming Peace Council in Washington as particularly significant.
The Republic of Cyprus will participate as an observer at the meeting on Feb. 19. Speaking to reporters in Nicosia, Christodoulides said the government intends to highlight the Gaza plan it drafted and presented at last year’s peace summit in Cairo.
He added that either he or the foreign minister will represent Cyprus at the meeting, noting that he is in contact with other Mediterranean leaders and that a final decision will be made by Tuesday.
