With the central theme of dealing with the threat of drought in the primary production sector, a three-day Summit of the Ministers of Agriculture of the Mediterranean Member States of the European Union, MED9, begins today in Ayia Napa.
The Summit, with the participation of the European Commissioner for Agriculture and the Ministers of Agriculture from Cyprus, Greece, France, Italy, Spain, Croatia, Malta, Portugal and Slovenia, is hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, as the presiding country for the year 2024 of the MED9 informal cooperation.
The aim is to find ways of working together to create a sustainable agricultural sector, resistant to the extreme weather conditions caused by climate change. The comprehensive and sustainable development of Mediterranean water is also a dominant issue.
