1959: Cyprus Airways launched its enhanced summer schedule on April 1, 1959, increasing flight frequencies to numerous destinations across Europe and the Middle East.
From Nicosia, flights to Athens operated seven times a week, with departures on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Rome was served four times weekly on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, while Milan featured three weekly flights on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Sundays.
Weekly flights to Zurich and Munich were scheduled on Saturdays and Fridays, respectively, while London offered nine weekly flights across six days.
Additional routes included twice-weekly flights to Ankara and Istanbul, three weekly flights to Tel Aviv, and five weekly flights to Beirut. Kuwait was serviced three times weekly, Bahrain twice, and Doha once weekly.
All flights were operated using Viscount aircraft equipped with four Rolls Royce engines, ensuring reliability and passenger comfort. The schedule reflected Cyprus Airways’ commitment to offering expanded travel options during the busy summer months.
