FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – Cyprus is set to introduce new plans to boost electric mobility as part of its green transition and climate strategy, Transport Minister Alexis Vafeadis said last night.
Following a meeting with industry representatives, Vafeadis addressed concerns over the recent decision to end subsidies for electric vehicle purchases.
He emphasized that the government’s focus is on meeting 2030 targets, including reaching 80,000 electric vehicles nationwide.
“We are looking beyond the recovery and resilience plan and focusing on achieving our 2030 goals,” Vafeadis said.
Recent figures show the share of electric cars in Cyprus rose from 2,4% in 2024 to 5,6% in 2025 and of hybrid cars from 38,7% to 43,9%.
