The Ministry of Education, Sport and Youth, in cooperation with the Deputy Ministry of Shipping, held a student career day titled “Discover the World of Shipping” in Limassol.
The event took place at the Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement (BSM) Maritime Training Center and brought together students from Lyceums and Technical Schools in the Limassol and Paphos districts.
Deputy Minister of Shipping Marina Hadjimanoli highlighted the wide range of career opportunities available in maritime and “blue economy” professions, stressing the ministry’s readiness to provide accurate guidance to young people interested in the sector.
Irini Rodosthenous, head of the ministry’s Counseling and Career Education Service, said the event reflects ongoing cooperation with the Deputy Ministry of Shipping and emphasized the importance of linking schools with the labor market.
Students attended presentations on maritime careers and shipping‑company staffing needs, and took part in hands‑on activities using bridge and engine‑room simulators.
Teachers and students expressed satisfaction with the organization and content of the event.
