Cyprus’ Agriculture Ministry and the Department of Agriculture has issued updated instructions for movement within livestock areas where vehicle‑disinfection and monitoring points have been installed to contain the spread of foot‑and‑mouth disease.
The ministry said the checkpoints were set up with the support of local authorities, while police and National Guard personnel are overseeing vehicle passage. According to the announcement, movement inside these zones is prohibited unless individuals obtain a permit from the Veterinary Services, as required under the 2026 Animal Health (Control, Prevention and Containment of Foot‑and‑Mouth Disease) Decree.
Entry is allowed only between 5 a.m. and 7 p.m. Outside those hours — from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. — access to livestock areas is not permitted without a special emergency permit.
Information on daytime access procedures and permit applications is available on the websites of the Department of Agriculture and the Veterinary Services.
For urgent cases requiring entry between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m., individuals must contact the relevant district veterinary offices:
• Nicosia: 22805241 • Limassol: 25819512 • Paphos: 26821261 • Famagusta: 24824555
Authorities stressed that presenting a valid entry permit at monitoring points is mandatory for access to any livestock area or zone.
