Police are investigating a case of online fraud following a complaint filed by a 31-year-old woman who says she was tricked into transferring more than $52,000 in cryptocurrency.
According to the complaint, the woman had been communicating online with an unidentified man who persuaded her to invest through a digital platform. Between Sept. 25 and Oct. 4, she made six cryptocurrency transfers totaling $52,485 via a link he provided.
When she later attempted to access the company’s website, she discovered it did not exist.
The Limassol Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is continuing its inquiry.
