FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE –  Authorities are probing an incident of burglary and malicious damage at a primary school in Limassol, which took place on the evening of March 27, 2025.

The school’s alarm system was triggered just before midnight, prompting a swift police response.

Upon arrival, officers noticed smoke and a strong burning smell emanating from the premises. The Fire Department was immediately notified and extinguished a fire in the courtyard, which involved burning paper.

Investigators reported extensive damage to the school’s windows, toilets, flower beds, and waste bins.

Shortly after, two suspects, aged 23 and 16, were apprehended near the scene. They were found carrying burglary tools, a pocket knife, solid petroleum, and items believed to have been stolen from the school.

The School Board estimates the damage at €500. The suspects were arrested and taken to the Limassol Crime Investigation Department, where they reportedly admitted to the offenses.
