A series of road works is under way across the island’s highways and urban areas, with lane closures and diversions expected to affect traffic in all districts, police said Friday.

Larnaca District

Maintenance of safety barriers will continue on sections of the Larnaca–Ayia Napa, Larnaca–Nicosia and Larnaca–Kofinou motorways from 2–13 February, weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. The left lane will close in 200‑meter segments, with traffic diverted to the adjacent lane.

On Friday, 6 February, storm‑drain cleaning will take place near the Aradippou Industrial Area exit on the Larnaca Airport–Dhekelia–Paralimni route between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. The exit toward Dhekelia and Paralimni will be closed, with traffic rerouted via the western Aradippou exit.

Installation of emergency‑exit doors in the central median of the Larnaca–Kofinou motorway continues until 6 February, from 9 a.m. to 5:30 a.m. the next day, excluding Fridays and weekends. The right lane will close in 100‑meter sections at five points between the Kalo Chorio roundabout and Kofinou.

Nicosia District

Work on the Nicosia Perimeter Motorway (Phase B3) continues, with two northbound lanes toward Anthoupoli closed for about six months from 13 October 2025. Traffic is diverted via Agios Georgios Avenue and Orthodoxias Street. Access to Andromedas Street operates with two‑way traffic on the southern lanes.

A major upgrade of Ammochostou Avenue in Nicosia and Aglantzia, covering 1.7 km of main road and 0.8 km of secondary streets, is ongoing until February 2027.

Limassol District

Tree‑cutting works on the Trimiklini–Platres road near Pera Pedi will run from 9–20 February, weekdays between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. One lane will close in 100‑meter sections, with alternating traffic controlled by a “Stop & Go” system.

In Mesa Geitonia, Kosti Palama Street will close on 9 February from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. for resurfacing. Traffic will be diverted through Princess Alexia Street and Filopappou Street.

Larnaca Coastal Road

Phase C of the Larnaca–Dhekelia coastal‑road upgrade continues until April 2026. The section from Oroklini’s organised beach kiosk to the Pyla junction remains closed in both directions, with diversions through Galaxia, Salaminos, Selinis and Okeanias streets in Oroklini, and Ithakis Street in Pyla.

Additional works on Spyrou Kyprianou Avenue near the Larnaca Port roundabout will run from 2 February to 15 March, closing the northern service road for pavement, crossing and cycle‑path construction. Temporary traffic changes include reversed one‑way sections and controlled access for residents.

Horizontal road‑marking works will also take place in Oroklini from 9–12 February, closing one direction at a time over 400‑meter stretches, with diversions through Athinon, Olymbou and Bella Pais streets. From 13–17 February, marking works on service roads will restrict access via Navarinou, Mesopotamias and Mesogeiou streets.

Paphos District

Barrier‑replacement works on the Paphos–Polis Chrysochous road continue until 9 February, including weekends, near the communities of Stroumpi, Milia, Kato Akourdalia and Skoulli. One lane will close, with two‑way traffic controlled by temporary lights.

The Nikokleia–Filousa road will close from 2–9 February for rock‑face clearing near Salamiou. Traffic toward Salamiou, Mesana and Arminou will be diverted via Nikokleia–Agios Nikolaos–Mandria and through Trachypedoula.

In Paphos town, part of Archbishop Makarios III Avenue in Paphos and Geroskipou will remain closed for about three months from 29 January for upgrade works. The uphill lane will close between Achepans Street and Thasou Street in Konia. Access for ambulances will be maintained on the downhill lane. Access to Konia will be available only via the motorway exit.
