A fire that broke out on Sunday afternoon south of the Limassol–Paphos motorway, near the Pissouri exit, has been brought under control following a lengthy operation involving substantial ground and aerial firefighting forces.
The call reporting the fire was received at 2:38 p.m., prompting an immediate response from the Fire Service and other relevant authorities.
According to the latest update, the fire burned a total of four hectares of dry grass, wild vegetation and trees, along with piles of rubbish and waste material.
Firefighting aircraft have now been released, having completed their water drops. Volunteer teams have also left the scene, along with forces from the Forestry Department, the District Administration, Civil Defence, the Pissouri community and the British Bases.
Fire Service and Game Fund vehicles remain at the site on standby to extinguish any remaining hotspots.
